Swine Hospitalization Facility
Research Facility
Our Pre-Clinical Research Unit conducts multidisciplinary GLP and non GLP studies.
- Our state of the art facilities are composed of two fully equipped large animal surgical rooms, including an X-Ray C-ARM Imaging System (OEC 9800 GE), a Laparoscopy System with full endoscopy equipment, an Ultrasound Scanner, a Laser Doppler System and so forth.
- Preparation and recovery rooms are adjoined to the surgical rooms.
- Additional equipment and operative support is available from experienced medical authorities via Assaf Harofeh Medical Center.
Hospitalization
The Hospitalization Unit of the Pre-Clinical Research Facility at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center is accredited by ISRAC (the Israel Laboratory accreditation Authority) as working in compliance with OECD-GLP principles.
Two separate state of the art hospitalizations units, with holding capacity of 50-70 animals total, (single housed or group housing, respectively), are available for various GLP and non GLP studies.
Each hospitalization Unit is composed of two separate sub-units: the Preoperative Acclimation Unit and the Hospitalization Unit, where the animals are kept throughout all phases of the study.
The two sub-units are kept under controlled conditions:
15 full air exchanges every hour
Real time logged temperature and humidity throughout the year
The Operating Rooms and Hospitalization Unit are fully monitored by central surveillance cameras for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Quarantine unit
As of April 2013, the Israeli Veterinary Services of the ministry of agriculture has granted the research & development facility of Assaf Harofeh Medical Center formal approval to import different swine species for research only.
For this purpose, a separate quarantine unit in the research facility was assigned.
Holding an import license for different swine species enable Assaf Harofe pre-clinical unit the benefits of performing your study with the right animal model (Gottingen minipig [Denmark], micropigs [Singapor], Hanford minipis etc’), without compromising on the local supply.
